Two teams are formed with ten men each and the goal of the game is for the team to exhaust all of their cards before the opposing team completes another count. The game is usually won by the team that makes the most number of beans counted successfully. Although different games may have rules that differ, the fundamental idea is the same. There are many variations to this game.

Each team stands before ten hollowed-out wooden bowls numbered 10. Each team is comprised of ten players which represent the hands of each player. Each player receives 5 cards that represent the person they are. Each of these cards has numbers on them which determine the number of hands each participant has been dealt. After all players have been dealt, the blinds are raised, and players are required to put their hands into the bowls.

The dealer then hands one bean to each teammate and asks them to guess the card they are dealing by touching it with their hand. If the guesses match those of the dealer, the dealer will then give one bean to each team member. The team then has to guess the next card by touching it with their hands. The final card is revealed, which shows the hand of the other team. The process continues until a player can guess correctly. After all cards are dealt the game is over and the team with the most wins will take home the prize.

Fan Tan is played with a lot of skill and a lot of strategy. It takes a lot skill to determine the hand selection, bean counting, and betting strategies. It's a lot of fun and rewarding, especially if you can win some cool prizes. This game is so popular at birthday celebrations that there are videos of the game.

The game is best played with four or five players. Two teams are created, each with a a fixed number of bean bags. One player is designated the master and is accountable for ensuring that all players on the group count correctly. Anyone who is not involved in the counting process isn't permitted to participate and is able to only count when they see an "handful" of bags. This prevents people from cheating the system by counting more than is legal. The player must be attentive to identify any doubts among players in order to play the game effectively.

The most appealing aspect of the game is its ability to teach players how to play better.
